Chakras are energy centers located in the spiritual bodies of a person. These centers channel the universal life force energy in and out of the physical and spiritual selves. Some refer to the life force energy as Qi/Chi, consciousness, or even the soul. The chakras are considered both transmitters and receivers of the energy and, at times, perceived as vortexes. Meridians are energy paths in the body through which consciousness flows. When the chakras and meridians are balanced, physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual health is achieved. See Light Body.
